MIRGUARD 614
Multispectral infrared sensing for drones that reduces false thermal alarms.
MIRGUARD 614 is a lightweight, 8-channel infrared spectrometer for UAVs that detects thermal threats, early-stage fires and infrastructure anomalies more reliably than standard thermal cameras. Developed within the Akces NCBR MilTech Acceleration Program.
Standard drone thermal cameras see a single image of heat intensity. Reflections, low-emissivity surfaces such as metals, and changing weather conditions easily distort that image. The result is false alarms and unreliable readings.
Spectral information, not only temperature
MIRGUARD 614 measures spectral information, not only temperature. The instrument records the scene in eight spectral bands across the 6-14 µm range. This allows it to distinguish genuine heat emission from reflected or atmospheric signals, and to discriminate between different surface materials. Water-vapour-sensitive channels act as an in-flight atmospheric reference, so the system automatically corrects its readings for humidity and haze and keeps results stable in changing weather.
The sensor is designed for small and mid-size drones: about 1 kg, 7 W average power consumption and IP54 protection. It integrates with any platform through mechanical, electrical and data interfaces, and comes with software and spectral signature libraries. For larger deployments, we also offer tailored drone swarm programming.
Target applications (dual-use)
- Civil protection: early fire and hotspot detection.
- Infrastructure: inspection of high-voltage power lines.
- Industry and research: identification and abundance estimation of metal-bearing minerals in waste for recovery, and mineralogical analysis of excavated material.
- Armed forces and defence integrators: identification of movement routes from moisture patterns; detection of toxic and chemical warfare gases; thermal detection of human presence for perimeter protection; and thermal indicators of armed activity for situational awareness and post-event assessment. Military applications subject to scenario-specific validation.
