The next decade of space exploration will not only be about reaching the Moon, but about learning how to use its resources.

In an interview with Polskie Radio Rzeszów, our CEO, Jakub Ciążela, shared how MIRORES is contributing to this shift by developing technologies that can identify the resources needed to support future lunar missions.

“Space mining is about rethinking how we extract resources beyond Earth. While active mining hasn’t started yet, the plans are well underway. It won’t look like mining on Earth; whether on other planets or the Moon, we expect operations to begin within the next 5 to 10 years.

The first step is exploration. Our MIRORES spectrometer is scheduled to fly on a European Space Agency – ESA mission in three years to scout for these essential materials.

What are we looking for? Primarily, what is needed on the Moon:
• Water – to sustain astronaut life.
• Energy & Fuel – to power the return journey to Earth.
• Construction materials – to build and maintain lunar bases.
• Metals – to develop critical infrastructure.”

At MIRORES, we provide the “eyes” for these missions, ensuring we know exactly where to find the resources that will power the next giant leap for humankind.

Thank you to the organizers of hashtag#SpaceShield Summit and Polskie Radio Rzeszów for the engaging discussion on the intersection of space technology and defense.
